Polaris launched the new Indian Chief Motorcycle at Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and today, riders are heading to Spirit Lake, Iowa for the first-ever Indian Motorcycle factory tour.

 "The new Thunder Stroke engines are manufactured in Osceola, Wisconsin and then shipped down to our facility in Spirit Lake, where the bikes are put together," said Scott Wine, CEO of Polaris in an Aug. 5th interview with Bloomberg. "I think Polaris is the rightful owner of the Indian brand. We started with the snow mobiles in 1954, the first American manufacturer and now we are the first manufacturer of motorcycles." The iconic brand became America's first motoryclce company in 1901 and enjoyed a storied 40-year run before being sold in 1945. Nearly 60 years after the last authentic Indian rolled off the line in Springfield, Massachusetts, Polaris Industries was able to rescue the beloved brand.

Polaris launched Victory Motorcycles, a new brand 15 years ago and purchased the Indian brand in 2011. They launched the new Indian Chief with the new Thunder Stroke engine a few days ago at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. The more economical, but extremely reliable and stylish bikes are certain to be top competitors for Harley-Davidson.

The Indian Chief is priced at $19,000 - The Indian Vintage at $21,000 and the Indian Touring bike at $23,000.



One of the biggest dealership in the midwest is Indian-Triump of the Twin Cities that is hosting the first-ever factory tour ride today from St. Paul, Minnesota to Indian Motorcycle facility in Spirit Lake, Iowa.








"We are hosting the first-ever Indian Factory Tour as part of a weekend of events," said Art Welch, co-owner of the dealership. "There is really a lot of interest in the new Indian Chief. We gave 143 demo rides on the new Indian from noon to 6 pm on August 14, the day the new Indians were launched."

"The Price Is Right," said Jamie Elvidge in a review for CycleWorld. " Someone looking at a Heritage Softail -- the same buyer the Chief Vintage is vying for -- might see a price tag swinging from the H-D that's $3,500 less, but to make the bike compatable, he'd have to pony up for the Twin Cam 110 ($5,000), ABS ($1,200) and chrome for the fork, hand and foot controls ($1,259.) Plus, the Harley's seat will be vinyl instead of leather, and internal handlebar wiring, cruise control and keyless ignition aren't event optional.

2013 Legends Ride Kicks Off Sturgis Rally

The ride was sold out and the raffle bike set a new record -- $55,000. Buffalo Chip owner, Rod "Woody" Woodruff hosts the annual charity ride that travels from Historic Deadwood, through the beautiful Black Hills to the Legendary Buffalo Chip.

Celebrities on this year's ride included the Ness family, Dee Snider, Robbie Kneivel, John Paul Dejoria, Kristy Swanson, and Jessi Combs.

"Rod Woodruff of the Buffalo Chip told us the bus purchased for the Special Olympians should be paid off next year," said Walt. The ride also raises money for the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum.

Riders gathered at the Silverado-Franklin Hotel in Deadwood at 11 a.m. The scenic ride to the Chip was followed by a live auction at 7 p.m. topped off by Doobie Brothers and Kid Rock concerts. 

25th Toys In The Sun Run, Dec. 9th

The 25th Annual Toys in The Sun Run - The world's largest toy run - gets underway at 9:45am on Sunday, December 9th in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Two interstates are closed for this motorcycle toy run that draws 30,000 riders, including many of the top bike builders and more than 50,000 spectators.

Hosted by the South Florida Presidents Council to benefit the Joe DiMaggio Childrens Hospital and thousands of local needy children, the lineup begins at 6:45am at Mardi Gras Casino in Hallandale, Florida.

The ride departs at 9:30 am for Markham Park in Sunrise, Florida.  Each rider will donate $20 or $10 plus one unwrapped toy. Cars and trucks are welcome but please go directly to the Park, where there will be over 100 vendors and an international food court.

No pets, no coolers, no outside food and drinks allowed.

10th Illinois Motorcycle Freedom Ride, June 16

The 10th Anniversary Illinois Motorcycle Freedom Ride will roll into Marseilles, Illinois on Saturday, June 16th to honor three decades of US Veterans killed during wars in the Middle East, since 1979. They will gather at the Middle East Conflicts Wall Memorial.

The Middle East Conflicts Granite Memorial Wall was dedicated on June 19, 2004 to commemorate the servicemen and women who have lost their lives in worldwide conflicts since 1979. The project was built with donated material and labor and is the first of its kind in US history to honor fallen soldiers by name, during the ongoing war.


It took 20 years to Honor our Vietnam Veterans. Almost 60 years to Honor our World War II Veterans. The names on the wall represent our fallen heroes from such diverse locations as Panama, Lebanon, the Balkans, Grenada, Somalia, Haiti, USS Cole, USS Stark, Terrorist attacks in Italy, Greece, Scotland, and the current conflicts in the Middle East.

The Purpose of the Illinois Motorcycle Freedom Run is to show "Our Brave Servicemen and Women, and their Families, that we support them, and to Honor Fallen Heroes." 

The route is lined with Americans waving American Flags and paying tribute. In the past we have had 10's of thousands of participants. The money raised through generous donations is used to update and maintain the Memorial, and to put this wonderful event together. Co-Founder Jerry Kuczera remains on board to assist the organization. The first Memorial erected was in the small town of St Anne, Illinois, the hometown of Capt. Ryan A. Beaupre, one of Illinois' first casualties in the war against terror. Since then, memorials have been donated to all of the veteran homes and hospitals in the State of Illinois in Honor of all our Veterans , Past and Present.

National "Ride For Kids" 2012 Kicks Off in South Florida

The National Ride for Kids 2012 kicks off every year in South Florida to benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. 

This year's kick-off was Sunday, April 15th at Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield Beach.

In the past five years, the New England Walkers for Knockers has raised $115,000 for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. This is a new path forward for the group, aimed at helping people on a more personal basis to face the emotional and financial burdens associated with struggling to overcome breast cancer.

Georgia Charity Poker Run, Motorcycle & Car Show

This Saturday in Georgia, Jeremy and Nicole Johnson of Muttin Cycles  will host a poker run and bike show to benefit The Cathy’s Help Foundation.

Cathy’s Help caters to women that are battling breast cancer with or without insurance. The foundation was created in memory of Jeremy’s mother, Cathy Johnson, who lost her battle in 2005. The foundation aims to help with medical bills, medicine, home repairs ... Last year, a woman needed a new AC unit so Jeremy took everything in the account and made it happen. The funds are sitting at $3,554.51 and their goal is $50,000. Do me a favor and follow their Facebook page, donate if you can and help spread the word. Every dollar that is donated goes towards the cause.

Registration for the poker run opens at 8:30am Sat., July 9th at Stone Mountain Harley-Davidson in Conyers, GA. Kickstands up at 10:30am. The first stop will be Rocky's Hwy 142 Bar and Grill in Farrar, GA. (Newborn, GA.), then to Hammer's Get-A-Way in Jackson, GA and then back to The Whistle Post Tavern in Old Town Conyers, GA for the bike show and party.

Riders will travel in small groups from stop-to-stop on this 75-80 mile ride. The cost is $15 for single riders plus $10 for passengers.

Motorcycles from the poker run will also be entered in the Bike & Car Show for the chance to win some very cool prizes.

Kickstands Up 2011 Begins With 100 Miles of NC Twisties

Decorate your bike in pink or "ride naked" to the Kickstands Up 2011 launch ride on Saturday, June 18 that begins at Motorcycles of Charlotte and takes in 100 miles of twisties to Robbinsville, North Carolina.

"Sunday morning we’ll ride Tail of the Dragon and then I’ll keep going to Chattanooga, TN — you’re welcome to go as far as you’d like with me," said Tamela Rich, from her blog "Leaning into Life." 

The middle-aged motorcycle adventurer, who took up riding at age 48, will be blogging down the highway, learning "lessons from the road" on a "Conga" across 20 US states and 4 Canadian provinces to raise money and awareness for "The Cause" -- breast cancer research. She will travel about 10,000 miles before her "Kickstands Down" on July 28th.

Conga for the Cause is an ad-hoc fundraising and awareness-building initiative by Canadian and American motorcyclists who raise money in the fight against breast cancer. It’s called “Conga” because it resembles a Conga Line (you may have joined one at a wedding) where people drop in and out as the line snakes around the ball room.

It all begins at 9am June 18th 2011 with coffee and donuts at Motorcycles of Charlotte.

"Motorcycles of Charlotte has graciously provided us with a ride captain, Rich Lodge, who will place us in manageable groups, provide maps, etc. Please email him directly if you plan to ride with us so he knows what kind of crowd he’s in for. Kansas City W.A.R. Rally For "Wounded Warriors"

The 1st Annual - W.A.R. - Warrior Appreciation Rally is a special Armed Forces Day event planned for Saturday, May 21st to honor, support and raise awareness for our Military's Wounded Warriors. Come early to ride in the Patriot Motorcycle Ride. A “Cars 4 Heroes” vehicle will be presented to a needy veteran in the KC Metro area.

The Patriot Motorcycle Ride - 9 to 11am - rolls out from Worth Harley Davidson North at Interstate-29 and Tiffany Springs Road and ends at the Brass Rail, Hwy 152 & N. Brighton in Kansas City. Registration open at 7am $10 per rider includes rally admission.

About the Missing Link Motorcycle Club: The Missing Link Motorcycle Club is a National AMA Chartered Motorcycle Club which was established in 1982 in Columbus Ohio. 18th Miracle Ride Around the Indy 500 Track

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is celebrating 100 years of racing that will include the 18th Annual Miracle Ride on June 5th to raise money for the Riley Children's Hospital. More than 5,000 motorcyclists will enjoy the magic of riding around the historic Indy 500 track in a Sunday morning parade lead by the Indiana Motorcycle Drill Team. The Miracle Ride is a two-day event that includes a poker run and bike show on Saturday, as well as an auction, raffle and concert on Sunday.

"Over the past 17 years, the Miracle Ride has raised over $3 million for Riley Hospital and hopes to bring in another $400,000 in 2011," said Holly Farabough, director of marketing and sponsorship for Miracle Ride Foundation.

James Whitcomb Riley Hospital for Children is Indiana's first and only comprehensive children's hospital, saving lives and helping thousands of children every year. Many of the life saving programs at Riley are ranked as some of the top programs in the nation, setting a benchmark for other programs that help children. Riley is a not-for-profit hospital, so it relies heavily on donations from outside sources.

The Bob & Tom Show - nationally syndicated radio show presents the Miracle Ride.

On Saturday the 4^th the Miracle Ride kicks off with six poker runs with starting locations all over the state of Indiana. All poker runs will end at the Wyndham Indianapolis West Hotel, where the winners of each poker run will compete for six major prizes. The Wyndham will also be host of a Miracle Ride bike show and silent auction. Vendors will be available and there will be live music until Midnight.

On the morning of Sunday June 5^th, 5,000 plus Miracle Ride participants will gather at Allison Transmission. Bob & Tom from the Bob & Tom Radio Show will be on stage introducing guest speakers, giving some special presentations, and of course making everyone laugh. The Indianapolis Motorcycle Drill Team will perform and then participants will rev their engines for a very big parade ride.

The ride will leave Allison Transmission for a lap around the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It will then go past Riley Hospital for Children where doctors, nurses, families, and the children who are able, wave to all the riders and hold up signs of gratitude. This is a very touching moment that can bring you tears and definitely makes you feel good for supporting the cause.

The ride will end in Shelbyville, Indiana outside Indiana Live! Casino. Every participant will receive a complimentary lunch. Then Bob & Tom will do a live auction, announce the winners of the grand prize and most money raised prize, and the totals for the weekend will be announced. To end, anyone over 21 will be invited into the Casino to determine the winners of the Miracle Ride Raffle items.

It is a $50 minimum pledge per person to participate in the Miracle Ride. With this minimum pledge, adult participants receive access to all events both days, Sunday lunch, Saturday night camping, and an event t-shirt. Participants will also receive one chance at the grand prize, which is a 1200cc Harley-Davidson Sportster. For each interval of $50 donated, participants receive a chance at this grand prize. The individual who donates the most money to the Miracle Ride will receive a 2011 Harley-Davidson Sportster 883. Children who pledge $25 are eligible for a TTR 110 Yamaha or an Agility Kymco 50cc Scooter. Children under eight are free and children 8-15 pay $25 to participate.
