Thanks For Your Support: Bash 2010 "Salute To Our Military"

Porcupine Press decided to throw a birthday bash to celebrate 21 years of publishing the humorous, UP Magazine, and they decided it would be a gift-giving bash for American Veterans.... gift boxes are going up at stores all over Michigan and Wisconsin, and beyond to collect gifts for veterans in VA Homes and VA Hospitals. The Dan Lawson Band will headline BASH 2010 - Salute To Our Military - Aug. 27 to 29 at the fairgrounds in Chatham, Michigan. His band will play Friday & Saturday night at the BASH - then do a concert on Sunday for the veterans at the D.J. Jacobetti home in Marquette. The Forgotten Eagles of Michigan, the single largest contributors to the veteran's activity foundation in Michigan, will fly their colors at the noon opening ceremony of BASH 2010.

The Red, White & Blues Band (that headlined the LZ Lambeau "Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans" event in May at Green Bay, Wisconson) will close with a concert on Sunday.

Veterans who are able to make the trip from VA Homes will receive
a hero's welcome at BASH 2010.

The smell of smokey BBQ will fill the air at Rock River Recreation (fairgrounds) in Chatham -- ribs, chicken, pulled pork and all the sides are being prepared by Big Moe's (Michigan State BBQ Champs.)

Also on the big stage throughout the weekend will be The North Country Band, The Donny Hartman Band and the Willie Nash Band at Rock River Recreation (fairgrounds) at E3667 State Highway M94 in Chatham, MI.

$40 includes a full weekend of concerts, vendors and activities. Day passes, $20.

To Support This Event - Click Here - to purchase advance tickets and/or the event T-Shirt.

Fly in to Marquette... 30 minute drive to the fairgrounds. Or ride-in through untouched national forests with waterfalls and lakes.

There are many rental cabins and campgrounds in the area, charter fishing boats and glass bottom boat tours.

The Lion's Club will be handling the beer tents and the Shriners will be there with their clowns, raffling a 4-wheeler.. and a network of 5 radio stations and a television station have volunteered to promote and participate in the BASH, so there will be plenty of "News at 11."

The Radio Results Network radio stations are promoting this as "The Last Major Event of the Season in Upper Michigan" and they will be selling advanced tickets at their booth at the state fair.

Thanks to  Signs NOW Wayzata of Minnesota for promotional stage banners and special thanks to Dan Lawson Band for promoting BASH 2010 at events across the USA!

While shooting footage at the Daytona Beach rally for the upcoming season, they spoke with Johnny about Mazatlan Bike Week in Mexico, The Virginia Beach Classic, Thunder Beach in Panama City, and the ever-changing face of Daytona Bikeweek.

Michele Smith and Jay Barbieri will be hosting the brand new magazine show,“Two Wheel Thunder” on the Discovery network’s HD Theater, 8 to 9 p.m. est on Motorcycle Mondays.

Top Motorcycle Movies of All Time?

A list of "26 Greatest Motorcycle Moves of All Time" is provoking a bunch of comments today on Facebook.

The list includes "Top Gun," "Easy Rider" and "Wild Hog" but omits "The Motorcycle Diaries."

The original article lists some B-movies alongside some cult favorites and more mainstream films, and includes some interesting details that are worth reading. Take a look HERE.

But, I think the list needs to be updated to include "The Motorcycle Diaries" (2004) that follows two friends through the sweeping vistas of South America on motorcycles. Walter Salles is no ordinary director and the cinematography is truely gorgeous.

"Diaries" reminds me how little of the South American landscape we ever see on film in the US.

Also... what about "The World's Fastest Indian" - Anthony Hopkins?

What do you think?

Myrtle Beach Bikeweek Closes Sunday, May 16

Sunday, May 16th is the last day of this year's Myrtle Beach - Grand Strand Rally. Photographer Jack Mcintyre is on the way home to Philly to get to work with all of the editing that follows a big event.  "I really want to thank Jimmy Williams from EastCoast Bikeworks for hosting me this week in Myrtle with friends Rick, Billy, Louie, and Ira. What a great group to hit a rally with! " He also thanked his friend Lee Wimmer at Wimmer Performance - 11670 Highway 17 Byp, Murrells Inlet - 843.492.0412. "Great people & shop. They are definetly the GO TO place when in Myrtle for service and their custom-made accessories... check them out."
The Broken Spoke Saloon was on fire Friday night, during Myrtle Beach Bikeweek. Loads of people, the bar tenders were running at a marathon pace. It's a shame about the bad press the rally has received based on the stupid moves of the Mayor because this place is alive and kickin'.

All photos from the Myrtle Beach - Grand Strand Rally will be posted by Monday night - including one of the baddest baggers you will ever see - at BIKERPICS.ORG.

Old Iron Horse - Bike of the Week

Direct from Carl Hanlon of Guilty Customs are some details about this 1968 Ironhead Sportster that is just beautiful to look at from any direction... and it's going to be a whole new work of art by the time CJ makes the delivery to owner, Jerome Reed.

Here's what CJ had to say... and how you can follow this project.

Jerome Reed is a cool guy. Plain and simple. He likes cigars, beer, his wife and children (actually loves them) and especially his bikes. One particular bike is his little 68′ sporty, which we’ve had the pleasure of “customizing a bit”. (Sadistic laugh here).

Jerome, who is an emergency room trauma nurse (and Afghan veteran!), knew exactly what he wanted when he approached us and we believe he’s getting just that.

We’ve just gotten the skins back at the shop from Steve O’Brien at Liquid Illusions and here is a first look at them (before clear coat). Steve is doing another slam up paint job for Jerome's 68. Unique color combo's and super finish.

Once JD get’s some professional pic’s of the bike we’ll post an update. We can tell you that since we’ve already got magazines wanting to feature the bike you’ll see it on the news stands sometime this year, hopefully. (You know how mag’s can be). So keep a look out. IF you want to see more of the bike go to our Facebook page HERE.
